Adjunct Professor Preston Rich will present an introduction to the keys to building an efficient and effective cybersecurity program through the implementation of risk, program, and control frameworks.
Dr. Rich will discuss the importance of risk-based information security implementation in organizations and the role that information security controls play in the overall development, implementation, and maturity measurement of the cybersecurity program which must be aligned to the critical success factors of the business.

Dr. Rich is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) with over 12 years of experience in information security as an independent consultant and an interim Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). He has over 35 years of leadership experience gained throughout his career serving in the United States Air Force and working at Fortune 500 companies such as Lucent Technologies, Nokia, Sprint, and PepsiCo. Dr. Rich teaches business, leadership, computer, and information security courses part-time at the university level. He is often called upon to serve as a subject matter expert, keynote speaker, or panelist at various information security and leadership events. In addition to a CISSP, he holds a graduate certificate and an M.S. with Distinction in Information Assurance and Cybersecurity, an MBA in Strategic Leadership, and a Ph.D. with Distinction in Organization and Management. He holds three National Security Agency (NSA) focus area badges in Network Security Engineering, System Security Engineering, and Network Security Administration.
Jared Porter, Systems Engineer, Informatica
Jared Porter began his IT career as a helpdesk intern at LegalZoom in 2014. He then moved on to Informatica in 2018 taking over a leadership role in End User Services. Currently, he is a Systems Engineer at Informatica managing two data centers in North America. Jared is passionate about strategy, ITIL, training, and process improvement. His personal interests include travel, cycling, Civilization V, and history.
