He continues volunteer service with the Virginia Defense Force (AKA the Virginia State Guard) as the chief technical warrant officer for the 31st Virginia Cyber Battalion. He is the recipient of the Virginia National Guard’s Bronze Star for meritorious service for defending the commonwealth’s cyber infrastructure during the COVID pandemic, voluntarily maintaining active-duty deployment status without the availability of a vaccine. He also currently holds industry cyber certifications with SANS/GIAC in Security Essentials (GSEC), Incident Handling (GCIH), and Intrusion Analysis (GCIA), and with Cisco’s CCNA CyberOps, and a Security+.
