DATA Hosted Monthly Webinar – Guest Speaker Nathan Haslim, ManTech Cyber Security Operations Manager

Nathan hails from the great, presidential state of Virginia, where he currently works as the Cyber Security Operations Center manager for ManTech International for the past three years. He has previously held positions as a cyber-abuse engineer for one of the largest global ISPs, a technical solutions engineer at the Pentagon for the Navy / Marine Corp Intranet (NMCI) system, and in a planning support role for the Joint IED-Defeat Organization (JIEDDO). Nathan served just under six years with the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, deployed to front-line combat for over two years. He continues volunteer service with the Virginia Defense Force (AKA the Virginia State Guard) as the chief technical warrant officer for the 31st Virginia Cyber Battalion. He is the recipient of the Virginia National Guard’s Bronze Star for meritorious service for defending the commonwealth’s cyber infrastructure during the COVID pandemic, voluntarily maintaining active-duty deployment status without the availability of a vaccine. Nathan is graduating this semester Magna Cum Laude with Purdue Global’s Masters of IT (Infosec & Assurance), supplementing his BS of Psychology from Old Dominion, and AS of General Studies at Northern Virginia Community College. He also currently holds industry cyber certifications with SANS/GIAC in Security Essentials (GSEC), Incident Handling (GCIH), and Intrusion Analysis (GCIA), and with Cisco’s CCNA CyberOps, and a Security+. For a hobby, Nathan is a licensed amateur radio technician and enjoys training with the local Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
